A Picasso Is Among Works Stolen

Source:http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2010/05/20/world/europe/AP-EU-France-Museum-Theft.html?_r=1&src=me&ref=world

The greatest in the history of Art; Picasso, Matisse. Amedeo Modigliani, and Fernand Leger. Can you find any common fact between them? You might say "Fauvism ", "Symbolism' and "cubism".However the answer is that some of their paintings were stolen in "the Paris Museum of Modern Art on Thursday." Your instinction will ask how much does the painting worth? The price of painting "possibly worth hundreds of millions of dollars." The second question
will probably asking about security system at that day. Sadly, "some of the surveillance cameras, had been broken for the past few days." Therefore, It was the most proper time for "a single masked intruder" to steal the paintings. It is obvious that Police have to find thief who stole "Pari's universal cultural heritage." Even though authorized people are stating that thief cannot do anything with this painting because no collector will buy the stolen painting. It seems quite funny to talk about the real price of this painting, but there's controversy over
the real price. "Deputy culture secretary at Paris City Hall" affairms that price will "under 100 million euros." Now, general public cannot able to see those paintins anymore. By showing the masterpiece, art museum wants general public to be familiar with art. Thief should know that.

North Korea Denies Sinking Navy Ship

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/18/world/asia/18korea.html?ref=asia

Since the last week of March, all the TV programs in Korea has been stoppecd. The reason why is that a huge, mysterious event happened in Korea. “… sinking of a South Korean warship in water…” in March 26. Before South Korea government asked who did it, North Korea governments strongly denied. ““They are using the media to attribute it to us,” the North’s state-run news agency, K.C.N.A.,” Although some expert illustrates that the ship sunk by “hitting a left over from the cold war.” However, if South Korea government concludes that the action was by North korea, Government will not be a unshakable action anymore. They will fight against North Korea. President “will come under fire for the hole in the country’s defense, analyst say.” On top of that, all the action must be done very carefully because the South Korea governments “is scheduled to host to the Group of 20 summit meeting of leaders…in November.” And the other factor is that “… mayoral and gubernatorial elections scheduled for June.” So for Government, they have to really thoughtful about their decision because their choice can all be either directly or indirectly influence to 2 main events. The disastrous event happened in Cheonan, off Baengyeong island, brought all attention and tension to both 2 splited Koreas.

Source:http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/20/nyregion/20teachers.html?src=me&ref=general

By the research, "unemployment rate with a Bachelor is half as important as with a High School Diploma." However, if you read this article you will notice that it's not likely the research. Guess what. Imagine how many candidates apply for seven teaching jobs in Pelham Memorial High School in Westchester County. Although it's not like one of the greatest highschool in U.S.A, over 3,000 people applied for becoming teacher. For detail information, Pelham highschool first cut "with grade point averages below 3.0" and who didn't keep the application deadline. Then, only 200 of 3000 candidates interviewed with school administration. For social studies department not only had interview but also had "40-minute timed essay on the French Revolution". In addition, top applicants will have to "teach a demonstration class" for parents and teachers. The reason why this school is popular since this school pays range from "$50,000 to $134,000" But the main reason is related to economy
recession. This is now " worst job market since the Great Depression". What's the
alter solution? For instance, Jade Stier whom given in the story changed her major to nursing. She couldn't find any benefit for working as "earning $85 a day". Recession in job market is now striking perservice teacher. Hoping that nation's best quality potential teachers to do not lose their dreams.

friends" climbed "Alaska's Denali"; which is considered as highest and coldest mountain in North America in age of 11.Now, at the age of 13, he is attempting to climb Mountain Everest. Public might think him crazy. However, if you see his experiences, he's challenging is not that surprise. He has already conqured "five of the Seven Summits" which is the highest peak of seven summits. His accomplishment which has done by only about 200 people ;cresting Everest(29,035ft) and Vinson Massif(16,067ft).People still wonders this accomplishment could be done by little kid. But this little kid, Jordan Romero has very adult height(5feet 10inches) and weight(160pounds). In ADDITION,Doctor stated that he has "suggested level of physical endurance and training." Eventhough he is capable of physical task, he's now facing adolescence period. "Unfinished Ferrari" should be deal wisely with "self-control, decision-making,emotions and risk taking behaviors." Without going school "learning about dangling participles.” as Jordan mentioned,he is visiting all seven continents. He is learning cultures, languages, politics, food and people of
each country. I really do hope that Jordan accomplish what he wants.Finishing with famous quote by Sir Edmund Hillary who first climbed Mountain Everest: "It is not the mountains that we conquer, but ourselves".

Outside the Unites States and Canada, it's the world's most popular game. For best soccer player in the country compete for the World Cup. Hence, best player who also has patriotism is eager for this competition. However, In the FA Cup placed lastweekend, German's captain Michael Ballack got injured by Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng. A one of the best soccer player's injury can only be issue to some soccer fans. However, this problem is now becoming controversy between Boateng and Ballack. Boateng, who was "the German-born player" and his nation to Ghana, which is Africa nation. Last week, he interviewed German magazine "Sport Bild" that "There is my foul on the one hand and his slap on the other, and I think that violent conduct is far worse than a foul," It is obvious that slapping someone is definetly rude and hurt others feeling. Boateng deserved to say this comment because he already experienced German national team and saw Captain Ballack's unprofessional acting. He also criticised " Germany coach Joachim Low", who was defensing on
Ballck for "slapping team-mate Lukas Podoloski during a match with Wales in April 2009." Boateng is now saying that captain's such rude violent acting made him to change allegiances. It is very vague to determine who's attack was more worse. The fact is that German's captain Micheal Ballack cannot play due to his angle injury.

19th-century Canadian was close on calculations of world's oceans

In calculus class, you might feel tremendous shivering when you graph the function
with your hand by differentiating. It is obvious that people can graph a function
by graphing calculator. However, you can draw the function by your hand. Graphing it
by hand gives you much pleasure because you did not "high-tech measurement machinery the 21st century." Like that, about 120 years ago, Canada in oceanographer estimated "the total volume of the Earth's sea water". By his estimation the total volume was "1,349 biilion cubic kilometres." It was so close to measuring by Scientist who used the "latest satellite technology, sophiscated computer modelling tolls and global bathymetric" The only difference between estimation and measuring was "only about five times the volume of the Gulf Of Mexico" Seems like Murray, who "left Canada at 17 to study' made a huge footprint in the world of ocean science. He estimated the depth of ocean by only using "records of travellers,
of deep-sea expeditions, and the hydrographic surveys of various nations" By his estimation ocean scientist could measure "more accurate modelling of climate change, ocean circulation and salinity." Put all his achievement beyond, he died in 1914 because of "first car accidents in the British Isles." His life reminds me a famous proverb; " Tigers leave only their skins when they die, but through his achievements a man´s name lives on."

The Price and Who Pays: Updates From the Gulf

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/13/us/13q-n-a.html

Billions of dollars burried. By how? "An explosion and fire on a drilling rig on
April 20" Now general publics are wondering question such as "who has to pay for clean up costs." First of all, the cost of this trage will over "$4billion." Imagine what can you do with 4 billion? You can purchase 1 million fancy sport cars. Secondly, who has to take responsible for this accident? It is obvious that company who did oil spill must pay for it. But does general public have to share expenses? The answers no. The administration already said the primary leaseholder BP will pay the entire cost. Although BP is liable for everything, President Obama "proposed legislation" in order to help people who get affected by the accident. This legislation, strengtening the fund for this people by imposing "Higher tax on oil companies" Problem dealing with money is not entirely covering the whole issue. The destruction of environments are big issues as well. A number of sea animals "have been found dead along the gulf coast." It seems like that the death of sea animals are realated to this accident. However, by the research, Researchers could not find any "external evidence" or still in "the discovery phase." To sum up, "more than 400,000 gallons of dispersant" used to stablized the spill. People should always be careful all the time in order to prevent those kind of accident previously.

Cellphones Now Used More for Data Than for Calls

Source:http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/14/technology/personaltech/14talk.html?ref=technology

Development of technologies changed the world in a short time. For example the
electric device we used in the past and device we use now are a lot different. These
days, we use machines called "cell phone" and it enables us to communicate with anybody in the world. Originally, the cell phone has only one fuction, which was talking. However, cell phone has been upgraded for several years. Therefore, it now has variety types of application. For instance "listens to music, records voice memos, posts frequent updates to her Twitter and Facebook accounts." In addition people now even "tracks their caloric intake and taps out grocery lists." Due to cell phone's huge variety of function, number of people using cell phone is growing and reached "90 percent of households in the United States. However(130), "the growh in voice minutes " has ceased. But, why? By texting or like other funcitions, people can save "time consuming" and do multitask. That is why people now prefer tweet, text, or e-mail "rather than pick up the phone." Even if they pick up the phone, it is just for saying "I'm dropping by." On the contrast, it is not saying that having phone calls only have disadvantages. When "somethins is sensitive" people then pick up the phone. Derive from my experience, I live in Canada without my family and friends. Living without family and friends cause me feel loneliness. Thus, I often make phone calls with my family and friends. Listening to their voice courages me to study harder in foreign country. Comparing e-mail to phone call, I feel e-mail describes heartless world while phone call describes human's true inside love.

Iceland Volcano Eruption of 2010 (Eyjafjallajokull Volcano)

Source:http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/international/countriesandterritories/iceland/eyjafjallajokull/index.html?scp=1-spot&sq=iceland%20volcano&st=cse

The natural disaster is striking whole Euope. Since evening of March 20. "the emergence of a red cloud glowing" was covering the huge glacier in iceland. However, this sciencitic activity was not tiny event. The ash that has made from volcano eruption goes up "11,000 meters" By the consequence, it influenced air traffic in Europe. Due to ash soaring up, most of flights "were canceled." It did not only influnced passengers in Europe, but also influenced passengers "across airports from North America to Asia." It seems like, one of Iceland's largest volcano, "Eyjafjallajokull volcano", which has been sleeping for "nearly 2 centuries"
is now awake and interruping human beings. By this volcano, it is now worst time from air travel companies. Haltation of flights already cost them "hundreds of millions of dollars." Lots of people related to this air traffic problem are now questioning "Europe's ability to respond coherently to a crisis." To answer the question, "Aviation authorities in Europe" has brought some solutions;split Europe's airspace into three zones by degree of how much ash affected. That is
area with "completely restricted", "partial flight restriction", and "flight could resume completely". Cities like Oslo, London, Berlin, Warsaw are now within gunshot. For instance, On April 20th, parts of flight headed to London returned because of "new cloud of volcano ash" Still, this disaster in Europe is no end in sight. It is obvious that commnucation between public and authorities are most important to solve this problem.
